The institute was established by Government of Odisha in 1958 and was named as ELEMENTARY TRAINING SCHOOL. It was named Elementary Training School because the student were trained in true spirit of basic education propounded by Mahatma Gandhi. Then In the year 1973 it was renamed as GOVT. SECONDARY TRAINING SCHOOL where student pursue their Teacher Certificate (CT) and was again renamed as BLOCK INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION & TRAINING (BIET). KUARMUNDA, SUNDARGARH in 2014 where student pursue D.El.Ed Courses. As per Govt. only SC/ST students of Sundargarh district are eligible to take admission in our institution. This institution is affiliated by NCTE, New Delhi. The academic and administrative control of the institute is under Director TE & SCERT, Odisha, Bhubaneswar.

I extend my heartfelt regards and greetings to all the viewers/ stakeholders in this auspicious occasion. BIETs have been providing handy support in fostering elementary education in the state of Odisha and across the country as well. The pre-service and in-service programmes have been revolutionary in bringing a positive change in the prospect. For that, appreciate the untiring efforts of each and every staff, especially the faculty members and congratulate them in achieving the targeted goals each time. I hereby convey my gratitude for each one of them. Again, for the successful launching of this website I express my thankfulness towards the editorial teams, Sr. TEs, TEs and Computer Operator. Last but not least, I seek valuable suggestions and feedbacks from the viewers/ stakeholders. Like thousand bright stars in the sky, little bright stars of this earth with innocent eyes and confused faces are waiting – “When and who will guide us to
our destination”. They are waiting for a guide which may lead them to a purposeful destination. Amidst the chaos and competition for survival and existence of its individuality and values, our society if fighting a battle to live up to the true essence of being civilized and educated. There has been much talk, discussion and policy making at different levels of hierarchy and manifold work have been done and still are being done for improving the ‘Quality of Education’. Apart from the plethora of schemes, policies debates etc I feel two most essential or rather an indispensable factor for improving quality of education are Sincerity and Skill of an educator or a teacher and individuals who have been vested upon the responsibility of imparting education. Unless and until we impart quality education to our children the development of a child will be like a table with unequal legs.
Hence as our motto of this institution goes ‘LEARN TO TEACH’ which means Come here as Learner and Go out as Teacher. This institution caters to foster the talent and skills of aspiring teachers through courses. The government has recently christened as Diploma in Elementary Education or D.El.Ed. the courses
of study of two years in D.EL.Ed Programme streamlined as per NCTE -2009 guidelines has provided this institution with an honorable opportunity to serve our society in a humble and subtle way. I’m proud and grateful to the
almighty and everyone who has blessed me to be a part of the respectable and sacred service.
Our eager children have a real thirst for learning and our excellent staff team are committed and dedicated in ensuring that each and every child achieves.
